Orthodox Easter celebrations in Greece are one week later than the Christian Easter celebrations so we were lucky to celebrate twice.
We made a video of the Orthodox Easter celebrations. The explosions you hear in the video were initialy explained to us as part of their “tradition”. However further investigation taught us that the “tradition” is only a few decades old. Firecrackers and explosions is a cunning attempt by the clergy to keep the youth attracted to and involved in the church.
